Solo RPG Challenge #6

This week we are going to drop into some world building. What happened in the past of a region can have a huge impact on what happens in the now or future of that region. Take a look at this article which argues that a 100 million year old sea has an impact on our politics today (a more recent article).

So with that in mind draw and/or describe a small region of your world at least three time: once in ancient history; once in your current era; and once in a possible future. Think about who what happened in the past influences what is happening now or in the future.

Ancient History. The Oengus Hills were formed millions of years ago when two ancient continents came together to form a mountain chain. Over time the mountains were weathered and eroded to the point where currently they are but simple hills. Interestingly, the when mountains formed two elements were fused together, though tremendous heat and pressure, which created what people now call vein-stone. A shimmering, gem-like vein that has unknown energy. Most believe it is simply decorative but others believe it enhances physical strength.

Current Era. In the last few hundred years a cult lead by Amphelise was formed just to the south west of the hills, that cult, over time, became the Kingdom of Spideres Strik. Spideres Strik is a trading force throughout the region, primarily because it is one of the only area places which has access to the Oengus Hills and the vein-stone which they contain.

Possible Future. In the far future, it will be discovered that the vein-stone is indeed only a decorative gem. Without any power of its own, the value of the vein-stone will crash, causing Spideres Strik’s economy to crash. The Trade Imperium will seize on this opportunity to conquer the lands of its long time rival and will end up controlling the entirety of Diarmaid and will expand its reach as an economic powerhouse.

As always please share what you come up with.
